Wichita Falls Composting

Wichita Falls furnishes 90 gallon recycle bins free of charge. Residents can call the Sanitation Department and request the bins. You can put anything that is recyclable in the bins including leaves, grass clippings, newspaper and limbs. Every Wednesday, residents place the bin on the curb and it is picked up by a special truck with arms. It is then transported to the landfill where it goes through a big grinder. Wind rows are made approximately 6ft high and 12ft wide. They have special equipment for turning the compost.

At the giveaways, residents can get a pickup load or a trailer load. Pickup or trailer must be covered with tarp. You can put it on your lawn, in vegetable gardens, flower beds and even in potted plants. It's possible for recyclable material from your yard will return to your yard in the form of compost.
